Solid Wood Products specializes in wide boards made from reclaimed Douglas fir. An old Bavarian proverb states, “The larger the planks, the richer the farmer.” This exclusive wide plank flooring is fashioned for authenticity and manufactured with great expertise. Our planks come up to 12” wide and 16’ long and are available in a variety of colors and surface treatments. The European oil and wax finish is easy to maintain and friendly on the environment.

Given the fact that levels of relative humidity and moisture content (MC) vary with any given geographical region each installation is site specific. When Solid Wood Products accepts an installation work order we follow strict rules in regards to MC. When sub floor MC is above 2% of normal acclimatized rate then a proper vapour barrier will need to be laid down before the flooring is installed.
In the case of a well seasoned sub floor our flooring will be installed when it is acclimated to within 2% of the existing sub floor. Given these conditions we can expect to see moderate separation due to the normal movement of wood during the changes in relative humidity. For this reason we strongly advise that normal relative humidity levels of 30% - 60% should be adhered to for best performance.
Solid Wood Product’s installations will achieve optimum results when the above conditions are met and under normal living conditions. We use only quality glues and fasteners during installation which allows us to stand behind our product. In the unlikely situation that you have a board lift due to insufficient glueing (water damage not included) then Solid Wood Products will supply labour and materials free of charge.
